ANAT ISEA2013 Curatorial Internships :: Sydney, Australia

ISEA2013 is seeking two Curatorial interns to assist in the preparation and production of ISEA2013, to be held in Sydney, 7th – 16th June 2013.

ISEA2013 – Resistance is Futile
ISEA2013 is an international festival of electronic art and ideas taking place in Sydney, Australia. Presented by the Australian Network for Art and Technology (ANAT) and held alongside Vivid Sydney – a festival of light, music and ideas – ISEA2013 will showcase the best media artworks from around the world and provide a platform for the lively exchange of future‐focused ideas.

Curatorial Intern: Festival
ISEA2013 is seeking a curatorial intern to work with Carli Leimbach, Public Programs Producer of ISEA2013 Festival. Responsibilities will range widely but be focused on supporting all aspects of the exhibition and events programming, which includes a major international exhibitions at Vivid, commissioned public art throughout downtown Sydney, 10 days of performances and presentations, among other efforts.

This is an opportunity to become an integral part of ISEA2013, working directly with the Artistic Director and other Festival Staff. This experience presents access to work with some of the world’s leading contemporary artists, as well as key sponsors, organisation partners and industry professionals, and to be involved in every aspect of a major international art festival. You will learn firsthand how an event of this magnitude is organised and executed, and have input into critical decisions made throughout the process – and you will come away with invaluable professional experience in exhibitions, special events and public art.

We are looking a for reliable, hard‐working, self‐starting, independent, enthusiastic individual who wants to be part of an international festival, and who can ideally commit to at least 10 hours per week, more during the installation and execution of the exhibitions and the Festival/Symposium, 7th to 16th June.

The curatorial‐festival intern will receive a stipend of $5,000. The position is open until filled and begins no later than Sept 10. Remote work is possible.

Curatorial Intern: Publications I Communications
ISEA2013 is seeking a curatorial intern to work with the Project Coordinator and Artistic Director of ISEA2013 on publications and communications.  Responsibilities will range widely but be focused primarily on gathering materials, writing copy, interacting with artists/authors, proofreading and editing, image acquisition, and all aspects of a major publication (program, website, social media etc).

We are looking a for reliable, hard‐working, self‐starting, independent, enthusiastic individual who wants to be part of an international festival, and who can ideally commit to at least 10 hours per week and based on tasks needing completion.

The curatorial‐publications intern will receive a stipend of $5,000. The position is open until filled and begins no later than Sept 10. Remote work is possible.

General Qualifications
Previous curatorial experience required. Excellent writing skills a must. Diplomacy invaluable. Knowledge of digital art helpful. Production experience of major events a plus. For the publications position, previous publications experience also required. Graduate students welcome.

Must be organised, enthusiastic, and dedicated. Must be able to take direction and take initiative and solve problems in this dynamic and self‐motivated role. Must be effective in dealing with artists, performers, staff, and partners, and performing under pressure. Specific availability is negotiable.
